My "Glitter Girls" series is built upon birch painting panels. 
After sketching the image, I build the 'painting' with multiple layers of adhesive, ultrafine poly glitter, and glass varnish. 
I then 'frame' the piece using vitreous glass mosaic tiles on the front and sides.
